Possible to create a database to house all of my music files? (mp3, mp4, wma, etc)?

is it possible to create a database to house all of my music files? (mp3, mp4, wma, etc).... then sort and delete dupes and upload to iTunes?? only asking since iTunes blows for finding dupes, and knowing me i'll download many dupes and push them all back into itunes anyway........
