Does anyone know how to convert music to a different format?!?

I wanted to put music in my Nintendo DSI , i still had old songs on it so i tried puttting in recent ones from my media player and they come up as wma or something but the ones that were in it before say MPEG4 so how do i convert my music to that format so it will work??? :)
