Music won't play on my Windows Movie Maker 2.6 video?

I converted the .mp3 files to .wav so that they would be compatible with Movie Maker 2.6 but they still don't work. I even tried converting them to .wma but still nothing. The files work, they play fine on Windows Media Player but when I add them to the video there is no sound. Please help!!!
