Why doesn't DVD+R discs play on my DVD Player?

Ok, I recently decided to burn some videos from my computer to a DVD+R disk ready to be played on a Television. I converted the files to a DVD suitable format (mpeg2) and I made it ready to be played on a Television with DVD Flick. When I put it in my DVD Player it comes up with a menu of MP3/WMA or JPEG File and I choose both but there aren't MP3's or JPEG's on this disc. HELP PLEASE!
